Marta Santamaria- Owner
A native of Colombia, South America, Marta moved to the states over 20 years ago. Having acquired a background in Business and Hospitality Management, Marta's dreams and determination for success gave her the foundation to attain the essential qualities of an entrepreneur. Marta started her business ventures by opening a restaurant in downtown Asheville with her husband John. This is currently known as "The Bier Garden" which has become Asheville's destination bar and restaurant for locals as well as the bachelor's party place. Jon Andrews - General Manager
A local of Asheville, Jon has many years of experience in the hospitality field. After working with a local catering company while starting out his career as an accountant and doing parties on the side, just for fun, the thrill of putting on parties for clients ignited a passion inside. Leaving the 'numbers field' behind, he went back to school and graduated cum laude from the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at A-B Tech in 2006 and has honed his skills in hotels, restaurants and finally, here at The Venue. He possesses strong leadership qualities, a commitment to client satisfaction, an eagerness to build relationships within our varied event community, and a strong desire to see The Venue grow.
Steve Boeger - Executive Chef
Also a local of Asheville, Steve grew up in a German family where he learned at an early age that quality food was an essential ingredient to good living. As a child, he watched his grandparents prepare culinary masterpieces from scratch. His mother and grandparents instilled the importance of experiencing the many diverse cultures from Europe and beyond. The kitchen at the Boeger house was always an international one.
In 1997, Steve decided to follow his grandparent's footsteps and dive into the culinary world. His resume includes having worked at several five-star hotels, restaurants, country clubs, and at an estate as a private chef. In 2004 Steve accepted a position as a banquet chef at the Biltmore Forest County Club where he quickly became promoted to Executive Sous Chef at the same property during a $2.5 million dollar remodel. He also worked as Interim Executive Chef at the same property during 2007-2008. In September of 2008, he decided to move to Philadelphia to experience a new culinary scene. It was in Philadelphia where his culinary style and idea of food transformed while working as the Executive Sous Chef for one of the most renowned caterers in the city. After working in Philly for a year, an exciting opportunity arose to work as a private chef on an estate for a famous family. Steve worked there for four years alongside colleagues who had worked with some of the greats such as Thomas Keller from Bouchon in Napa Valley and Gotham Steak in New York & Miami, just to name a few. It was in 2013 that Steve decided to return to Asheville with his fiance to be near his family and to plant his roots both personally and professionally. He is excited to be the Executive Chef at The Venue and cooking his style of food!
Amanda Hartzell - Event Specialist
Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Amanda gained experience in the hospitality & event industries after graduating from The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a double major in Business Administration and Spanish.
Looking to get away from the craziness of Northern Virginia, Amanda moved to Asheville in 2013 where she found her "home" with The Venue. Amanda is a hardworking individual who prides herself on making sure every event is flawlessly executed. She has a passion for making each event memorable and a knack for details.
