Marta Santamaria

Owner

A native of Colombia, South America, Marta moved to the states over 20 years ago. Having acquired a background in Business and Hospitality Management, Marta's dreams and determination for success gave her the foundation to attain the essential qualities of an entrepreneur. Marta started her business ventures by opening a restaurant in downtown Asheville with co-founder John Bodenhorst. This is currently known as "The Bier Garden" which has become Asheville's destination bar and restaurant for locals. For more information go to http://www.ashevillebiergarden.com . After a few years of managing The Bier Garden, Marta started her own endeavors with “The Venue", "The Venue Catering", "The Planning", and finally “The Ridge”.

The Venue is well known for its delicious, classic and fresh food which is presented with a touch of elegance and particular attention to detail. Marta is passionate about each and every event and works diligently with the client to develop a unique and memorable occasion. Lead Event Specialist

With impeccable attention to detail, Amanda has a talent for making every aspect of an event count. She pays close attention to detail and guests often comment on how she always appears to be calm, even in high stress situations.From floor plan to flatware, guests truly appreciate and recognize her talent for organization and her patience. A former university rowing coach and graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a double major in Business Administration and Spanish, Amanda arrived in Asheville after hearing about the city from a friend. “I know I wanted a job in hospitality or planning,” Amanda says, “The most exciting part about my job is having the opportunity to work with all of our couples to make their wedding day truly special for them.”

Deandra Bodenhorst

Corporate Event Specialist

With a knack for connecting with people, Deandra has the business of entertaining in her blood and grew up learning about the hospitality industry from her parents. While earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from Liberty University, she spent her time traveling, learning from different cultures, and connecting with others. With each new event comes a different opportunity for her to build long lasting business partnerships. “I get so excited to work with new people,” Deandra says, “I like to take an idea and turn it into something amazing.”

Kevin Bailey

Operational Manager

Kevin has been a part of The Venue family since 2000. He started helping out with events while he was visiting home from school and eventually started to take on more hours and responsibilities as his interests started to move towards event management. Kevin draws from his experience in catering and banquets to help guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience. “Whether someone is watching or nobody is there to see,” Kevin says, “I still love helping out in some way and doing things that will make other people’s job easier for them even if they don’t know it.” An avid outdoors man and traveler, Kevin enjoys being part of team in an environment where he gets to make other’s days brighter.

The Ridge Event Specialist

Darien has been promoting and executing events since he was in high school. What started out as a school project soon turned into a professional business by the time he was 16. After spending some time in school at The University of North Carolina Charlotte, Darien came back to Asheville to be a part of The Venue and focus his efforts on The Ridge. “I’ve always appreciated the effort and time that goes into executing a single event,” Darien says, “You can’t fake being passionate about what you do and being a part of someone’s most exciting day is what drives me to do my best.”

Executive Chef

Professionally known for his award winning presentation style and Nouveau-Classical French Cuisine, Chef Joel came to The Venue in the fall of 2015 with over 23 years of comprehensive experience. Joel draws from his background in restaurants, including 23 Page, one of Asheville’s first fine dining restaurants, country-clubs, and culinary competitions in which he earned multiple medals from La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and ACF for his unique style, presentation, and delicious food. Joel brings a well loved southern flair to The Venue from the hills and hollers of Appalachia where he grew up. A lover of the outdoors, history, and science, he ties many of his passions into his craft.
